Hastings 29/12/2013

A brilliant sunny warm day today. Went to get some fish-halibut, to have with small potatoes and pesto, and, well, we were going to have it with samphire but nobody had any. we didnt realise ot was a seasonal veg available around summer. One fishmonger will have some early in the New Year (which will be in the next few days) so I suspect it may be frozen, but not too bothered about that.
Poddled along the fronts near old town and Ange got a grey deco hat, lovely thing, to go with her purple coat from a seafront shop.
Called in at the Dolphin for the 3pm meat raffle which we didnt win. It was here we discovered the decent butcher they got meat for their raffle. It was called on time-while we were outside smoking a pipe waiting for Johnny and Gaynor. We had quite a few bevvies so I was a bit drunk and fell asleep when we got back for half an hour. They came back with us for a look at the cottage and a coffee.
It was a sunny Sunday and Hastings was heaving with people, ot was great. Parking not so good. Ange tried to park in the Stade car park but it wasn't really a car park, more a collection of potholes filled with water with a little dry track between acting as stepping stones. Car didn't like it so we found somewhere else.
It was the night of the drug dealer or the prostitute or whatever it was. After coming to bed we heard shouting in the street a couple of houses down toward the beach. A car had stopped. A woman was shouting 'Go away!' and 'I have to pay for that!'. The car drove off. A few curtain twitchers were seen, then the scene returned to quietness with just the sound of wind and sea.
We made sure the doors were locked!
